I was seven months pregnant when everything started hurting. My back. My pelvis. That constant ache that made it impossible to get comfortable, no matter how many pillows I tried.
Then I found something in my freezer that changed everything.
My husband Jack had been designing ice packs for his knee injury – soft silicone prototypes he could wear directly against his skin. I grabbed one. And refused to give it back.
For the first time in weeks, I got relief. Real relief. The kind that let me actually sleep.
Here's what made it different. Unlike the hard, plasticky ice packs (the ones with sharp edges that dig into your skin), Jack's were made from medical-grade silicone. Soft. Flexible. Designed to be worn inside clothing, directly against skin.
I could lie on them. Sit on them. Move with them. They molded to my body instead of fighting against it.
Cold therapy works. Doctors recommend it for breast engorgement and recovery. So why don't most moms use it? Because the options are terrible. Ice cubes leak everywhere. Frozen peas go mushy and gross. Plastic gel packs scratch your skin. Until now, nothing was designed for the reality of motherhood.
We created mamacool because I needed it to exist. Whether you're recovering postpartum, dealing with pregnancy discomfort, or nursing through engorgement – relief is waiting in your freezer.

Fixing our own problem
Sometimes you stumble across a problem and think "surely there is a better option than this". That's how we felt when using the cheap, brittle, plasticky ice packs that saturate the market. Turns out there wasn't a better option. Icepacks have barely evolved beyond the bag of peas your grandma would prescribe. We had to do something about it. For our own sake.

Designed and tested in-house
We're hands on around here. Jack builds, Sophie tests. Every pack goes through dozens of iterations before it gets anywhere near our moms. We test different shapes, thicknesses, materials, fluid ratios and even the freezers which these ice packs spend most of there lives. If it doesn’t soothe, stay cold, and actually fit a real body, it doesn’t get sent to the factory.

Validated by real moms/mums
Once we're happy, we get our products straight into the hands of our toughest critics – new moms. We have a wide network of moms who are looking for relief during and after pregnancy. They tell us what works, and what doesn't. We want our products to work for all moms/mums – no matter how you spell it.
